Abstract

In October 2017 Tanjungpandan City experienced inflation of 0.29 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 137.14.

Inflation was attributable to price increases as indicated by rising indexes in five expenditure categories: foodstuffs by 0.15 percent; food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco group at 1.80 percent; clothing group by 0.20 percent; health group by 0.15 percent; and recreation, and sports education by 0.15 percent. While the other two groups experienced deflation, namely housing, water, electricity and fuel by 0.01 percent; and the transport, communication and financial services group 1.38 percent.

The inflation rate for calendar year (January-October) 2017 is 2.17 percent and the year-to-year inflation rate (October 2017 to October 2016) is 3.81 percent.

The core component in October 2017 experienced inflation of 0.29 percent. The component inflation was volatile at 0.17 percent, while the government-set deflationary component was 0.17 percent.
