Abstract

  • In September 2017, the number of poor (people with per capita expenditure per month below the Poverty Line) in Bangka Belitung reached 76.20 thousand (5.30 percent), increased by 2.12 thousand compared to March 2017 which amounted to 74.09 thousand people (5.20 percent).
  • The percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2017 of 2.89 percent rose to 3.00 percent in September 2017. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas in March 2017 of 7.74 percent also increased to 7.92 percent in September 2017.
  • During the period of March 2017-September 2017, the number of poor people in urban areas increased by 1.57 thousand people (from 21.47 thousand in March 2017 to 23.04 thousand people in September 2017), while in rural areas rose by 0 , 55 thousand people (from 52.61 million people in March 2017 to 53.16 thousand people in September 2017).
  • The role of food commodities against the Poverty Line is much greater than that of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). The contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line in September 2017 was 72.64 percent. This condition is not much different from the condition in March 2017 that is equal to 72.31 percent.
  • The types of food commodities that have a major impact on the poverty line in urban and rural areas are rice, filter clove cigarettes, beef, chicken meat, wet cakes, eggs, and instant noodles. Meanwhile, for non-food commodities, the big impact is the cost of housing, electricity, gasoline, and education.
