First Quarter 2018, Bangka Belitung Economy Grows 2.46%

Abstract

The economy of the Bangka Belitung Islands in the first quarter of 2018 measured under the Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) at current prices (ADHB) reached Rp17,791 billion and the GRDP at constant 2010 prices reached Rp12,629 billion.
The economy of Bangka Belitung Islands in the first quarter of 2018 grew by 2.46 percent, experiencing a slowdown compared to the first quarter-2017 (y-on-y) of 6.42 percent. In terms of production, the slowdown in economic performance is due to two business fields that have a large contribution to contraction (negative growth), namely mining and quarrying and processing industries. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, the slowdown in economic performance was influenced by the contraction in foreign exports in Q1 / 2018.
Compared to Q4 / 2017 (q-to-q), the economy of Bangka Belitung Islands in the first quarter of 2018 decreased by -0.34 percent. In terms of production, the decline in economic performance occurs in several business fields that have a large contribution to the economy of Bangka Belitung Islands such as plantation, mining and quarrying fields, basic metal industry, construction, and large and retail trade. In terms of expenditure, the exports of Bangka Belitung Islands in the first quarter of 2018 also contracted due to a policy related to changes in the issuance of overseas export licenses. In addition, government spending in Q1 / 2018 also contracted compared to Q4 / 2017.
Total PDRB ADHB of Sumatra Island in quarter I-2018 reached Rp775.582 billion or about 21.54 percent of total GDP 34 provinces in Indonesia, while the PDRB ADHK Sumatra Island in the first quarter-2018 reached Rp539.636 billion. The economic growth of Sumatra Island in quarter I-2018 decreased by -0.68 percent (q-to-q), but y-on-y grew by 4.37 percent. While the GDP of Bangka Belitung Islands contributes 2.29 percent to the GDP of Sumatra Island and 0.49 percent of the total 34 provinces of Indonesia GRDP.
