Abstract

Abstraction
  • In September 2018, the percentage of the poor (population with per capita per month below the Poverty Line) in the Bangka Belitung Islands reached 4.77 percent, down by 0.48 percent compared to March 2018 which was 5.25 percent.
  • The percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2018 was 3.09 percent, down to 2.78 percent in September 2018.
  • While the percentage of poor people in rural areas in March 2018 was 7.76 percent which decreased to 7.16 percent in September 2018.
  • During the period March 2018-September 2018, the number of poor people in urban areas fell by 1.87 thousand people (from 24.09 thousand people in March 2018 to 22.22 thousand people in September 2018), while in rural areas fell by 4.47 thousand people (from 52.18 thousand people in March 2018 to 47.71 thousand people in September 2018).
  • The role of food commodities on the poverty line is far greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health).
  • The contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line in September 2018 was recorded at 72.59 percent.
  • This condition is not much different from the condition in March 2018 which was recorded at 72.50 percent.
  • The types of food commodities that have a major influence on the value of the Poverty Line in urban and rural areas are rice, filtered clove cigarettes, chicken meat, wet cakes, chicken eggs, and instant noodles. Whereas, for non-food commodities, the most significant effects are the costs of housing, gasoline, electricity and education.
