Abstract

Abstraction
  • In September 2018, the level of inequality in the population of the Kepulauan Bangka Belitung measured by the Gini Ratio was 0.272.
  • This figure decreases by 0.009 points compared to the March 2018 Gini Ratio which is 0.281.
  • Meanwhile, when compared with the September 2017 Gini Ratio of 0.276 it falls by 0.004 points.
  • The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2018 was 0.289, a decrease compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2018 which was 0.296 and up compared to the September 2017 Gini Ratio of 0.288.
  • Whereas the Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2018 was 0.222 down compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2018 which was 0.238 and the Gini Ratio in September 2017 which was 0.236.
  • Another measure of inequality that is often used is the percentage of expenditure in the lowest 40 percent population group. Based on this measure the level of inequality is divided into 3 categories, namely "high" if the number is below 12 percent, "moderate" if the number ranges from 12-17 percent, and "low" if the number is above 17 percent.
  • As of September 2018, the distribution of expenditure in the lowest 40 percent group is 23.59 percent. This means that population expenditure is still in the low level of inequality category. If detailed by region, in urban areas the figure is 22.58 percent, while for rural areas it is 26.05 percent, which means that both urban and rural areas fall into the category of low inequality.
