Abstract

  • In December 2019 Tanjungpandan City experienced inflation of 1.17 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 147.92.
  • Inflation occurred because of an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the six expenditure groups index namely the foodstuffs group of 2.76 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco by 0.24 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.05 percent; clothing group by 0,21 percent; health group of 0.1 percent; and the transportation, communication and financial services group by 2.86 percent. Meanwhile, one other group experienced deflation, namely the education, recreation and sports group by 0.01 percent.
  • The December 2019 calendar year inflation rate was 3.19 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (December 2019 to December 2018) was 3.19 percent.
  • The core component in December 2019 experienced inflation of 0.23 percent; the volatile component experienced inflation of 3.07 percent; and the government-regulated component experienced inflation of 1.96 percent.
  • From 82 CPI cities, 72 cities experienced inflation and 10 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Batam City of 1.28 percent with CPI of 139.73 and the lowest of 0.01 percent occurred in Watampone City with CPI of 135.06. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Manado at 1.88 percent with CPI of 138.34 and the lowest in Bukittinggi and Singkawang at 0.01 percent.
