Abstract

  • IDI is a composite indicator that shows the level of democratic development in Indonesia. The level of achievement is measured based on the implementation and development of three aspects of democracy, namely Civil Liberty (Civil Liberty), Political Rights (Political Rights), and Democratic Institutions (Institution of Democracy).
  • IDI calculation methodology uses 4 data sources, namely: (1) review of local newspapers, (2) review of documents (Local Regulations, Governor Regulations, etc.), (3) Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and (4) in-depth interviews.
  • The Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) of the Province of Bangka Belitung Islands in 2017 reached 80.11 on a scale of 0 to 100. This figure has decreased compared to the 2016 IDI figure of 83.00. The achievement of the democratic performance of the Bangka Belitung Islands in 2017 is still in the "good" category. The classification of the level of democracy is grouped into three categories, namely "good" (index> 80), "medium" (index 60 - 80), and "bad" (index <60).
  • Changes to the IDI numbers of Bangka Belitung Islands from 2016-2017 are influenced by three aspects of democracy, namely (1) Civil Liberties dropped 4.58 points (from 87.65 to 83.07), (2) Political Rights rose 1.21 points ( from 81.09 to 82.30), and (3) Democratic Institutions fell by 7.31 points (from 80.20 to 72.89).
