Abstract

In October 2019 Tanjungpandan City experienced an inflation of 0.08 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 147.77.
Inflation occurred due to price increases indicated by increases in the four indexes of the expenditure group namely the foodstuffs group of 0.47 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco by 0.24 percent; clothing group by 0,10 percent; and the health group by 0.41 percent. Meanwhile, three other groups experienced deflation, namely housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel by 0.04 percent; education, recreation, and sports group of 0.01 percent; and the transportation, communication and financial services group by 1.01 percent.
The inflation rate for the calendar year October 2019 was 3.08 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2019 against October 2018) was 3.55 percent.
The core component in October 2019 experienced inflation of 0.05 percent; the volatile component experienced inflation of 0.76 percent; and the government-regulated component experienced deflation of 0.70 percent.
From 82 CPI cities, 43 cities experienced inflation and 39 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Manado City at 1.22 percent with CPI of 136.49 and the lowest occurred in Ternate City at 0.01 percent with CPI of 140.32. While the highest deflation occurred in Balikpapan City by 0.69 percent with CPI of 140.49 and the lowest in Palopo City by 0.01 percent with CPI of 136.35.
